MasterBeater and Rachid arranged a FABULOUS weekend in Dallas as a Valentines surprise for CC and me.
Here are the clues we had before departure:
1. MasterBeater was getting his car detailed for the trip → somewhere in TX?
2. We were to leave around noon on Friday and be back by noon on Sunday → 2-3 hours away?
3. MasterBeater was leaving for the Philippines on Sunday → He usually connects in Houston or Dallas, so maybe he's flying directly out of one of those cities?
4. Right before I dropped Jay off at his school, he mentioned that Rachid had disclosed the location to him and that this place started with the letter "G."
Based on these information, CC and I figured out that we would be going to an upscale hotel somewhere in the Galleria area in Houston, TX.
Immediately after the departure, we realized that we were getting on the I-35N--wouldn't we go down south to get to Houston? As CC and I panicked with the thought that maybe they were just driving around to throw us off, Rachid confessed that he had told Jay that we were going to a 2-day excursion at Gattiland... My poor guy was completely imagining his parents spending 2 full days there, in Gattiland, playing all kinds of games...
Despite Jay's inside-information, we ended up at a very hip, funky, and awesome place: Hotel Zaza. Onsite restaurant/bar, Dragonfly, was just simply incredible--it was so great that MasterBeater had to describe his dining experience with only the over-the-top sophisticated words like succulent, savory, and "party in my mouth (after a couple of bottles of excellent wine!)."
The next morning, after another great dining experience at Dragonfly, we headed over to the Galleria--this place is HUGE with a complete iceskating rink in the middle! (More pics are to be posted soon when MasterBeater returns from the Philippines with his camera.) After we spent all morning uhing and ahing in the upscale mall (and even getting a little "blue box" for Valentines), we decided to do something good for our brains--museum visit!
Rachid googled "Dallas museum" on his iPhone, and we decided to check out the only museum that popped up on his screen--Museum of Nature and Science. We happen to LOVE any sort of museum, from low-budget to expensive; from natural history to modern art, but this place was probably one of the worst programs I've ever visited (sorry if you're a fan of this place...). We ended up browsing through their exhibits, reducing ourselves to taking silly pictures...
(From Left: Master Bear, CC Makes statics go ecstatic, Rachid finds a woman of his dream...)
In order to heighten our excitment level again, we decided we needed some sugar in our bloodstream quick. So we decided to visit one of my dream spots: Sprinkles.
Then we hopped into Tin Star for a light lunch...
Right when we felt like we've already had a full day's worth of fun, MasterBeater and Rachid sent us to Ritz-Carlton for spa treatments...
Then we dressed up in our evening gowns and were escorted to Nana on the 27th floor of the Hilton Anatole. My, oh my! The food was so, so good that I completely forgot to take pictures! I had their grilled Texas Quail for an appetizer-which was to die for, Texas greens for salad, grilled sea bass for an entree, and to top it off, a nice glass of rosé and rasberry tart for desert. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in my life.
To burn off all the calories that we consumed at Nana, we decided to go down to Club Zaza and dance (and drink) the night away! Around this time, we finally realized that MasterBeater was not going to be able to fly out of Dallas without a huge penalty and decided that we needed to drive back to Austin in order to make his flight at 8AM...
By the time we packed up and finally went to sleep, we only had a little over 2 hours to sleep. Meanwhile, Rachid, who forgot to pack his must-have item=his eye mask, discovered that my strapless bra is NOT a good substitution for it...
