What It Is to Be a Native Texan

Pucker's preschool celebrated Texas Independence Day today.
That meant a whole day filled with crafts and stories about Texas! Yee-Haw!

Pucker's Texas Cactus... that ended up looking like a boo-doo doll!

The main event of the day was supposed to be the pony ride around the school, but it was postponed due to the rainy weather. I was very pleasantly surprised that it did not cause any meltdowns! In fact, I think I was the most disappointed of all...

As the finale for the fun-filled day, the school sponsored hot dog lunch for all; complete with the fixings, sides, and Baskin & Robin ice creams! I was very proud of Rachid for joining us despite his pickiness on the hotdog brand.

Can you tell they're related?!

When I was googling the history of Texas to fully appreciate the historical significance of this day, I came across a site that explained what it takes to be a native Texan. Here is what they said:

The Native Texan is someone who was born in Texas but even that can not be enough to be considered at True Texan. Like for example, ifn yor great great great grandpappy was born here in Texas yor more of a native than if'n only you wus born here. And ifn you ever left the fine State of Texas then you mighta been removed from the list of TRUE NATIVE TEXAN.

...It doesn't sound like any of us would be a true Texan anytime soon.

Since it was raining so hard and nasty outside, we made the most of it and painted.
Here are some pics of my non-Texan Picassos.
