During our stay in Breckenridge, CO, we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of restaurants that the resort offered.
Our kids' favorite definitely was Downstairs at Eric's.
Downstairs at Eric's had the typical "family friendly bar" atomospher--music, busy wall decors, activity sheet and crayons for kids... And 100+ beer for adults didn't hurt either.
We started with some wings and beer. As you can see, J LOVED their wings.
Rachid would have liked them more if we had ordered their fire hot wings, but the regular BBQ wings were still very good.
For the entrée, I ordered their Thai Peanut Pizza.
I apologize for the graphic nature of the food porn, but does that not just look so great?!
Best pizza. Ever. Bar none.
And this is why our kids wanted to go back to this place every night.
On the other hand, Rachid's & my highlight in Breckenridge dining was the Hearthstone.
While the boys enjoyed the Wii Party back at the hotel, we got to get away to this tiny little Victorian home for a bit of adult time.
I'm really bummed out that some of the pictures did not turn out--we had Panko-Breaded Lobster with Wasabi-Balsamico Sauce to start out. Wow! Right then, we knew we picked the right place!
For the main course, I tried the elk chop while Russ enjoyed his staple, NY Strip.
I was always told that the elk meat has quite a bit of gaminess, but this dish had no trace of it, and it was so tender and flavorful. They breaded the chop with panko crumbs and roasted it in the oven, but the crumbs had a bit of soggy texture--I would have liked it to be drier. Even still, I was very impressed with it. So much so that I prefered it to any other types of steaks.
For the dessert, we had the Maple-Walnut Crème Brûlée. It was just okay.
Maple flavor was a bit too overwhelming for my taste.
Good news is, they had quite a spread of deserts on the menu.
